A New Camera Tuesday, December 26, 2006
Well, yesterday was Christmas, and today I have a new camera. I have graduated to a real digital SLR. A Canon EOS 30D, to be specific.
I have a whole list of equipment I want to round out my photography, and in the process wound up with a happy accident. I got an extension tube - which I thought would give me more zoom capabilities on top of the lens I have, but instead, I found that it was a way to do macro photography. The background just disappears into the mist. I love the look. Whatever I have focused on is sharp and the rest is a blur. I found out today that what I had intended to get was a lens extender. Extender, extension tube - who knew there was a difference?
So, I will save up for the lens extender (and do some more research to make sure it is what I really want). Meanwhile, I have a great camera and a wonderful lens and an extension tube to add creativity to the closeups. What fun!
This picture is an example of the creative closeups I can now do. There are not a lot of plants around this time of year to take pictures of, but these two leaves were hanging on to a branch as I walked by, so I took a picture....
